Welcome Anubis.
Despite her many scars, despite her many reasons to detest all of human kind, her feather is very, very heavy.

Adorable creature. Hopefully you will not find your floor strewn with the bloody remains of unworthy hearts.
Yay new dog! She's gorgeous, and she's now found a very fine home indeed. Has she made friends with the Angry Predator yet?
In the 1990s, the cartoon Freakazoid featured a short about Anubis Market. The slogan was, "Look for the sign with the jackal-headed man."
If ever I find myself being judged, I only hope I am worthy.
forgive my ignorance, but while I understand the gist, I am at a loss for the origin of your phrase "her feather is heavy", can you possibly explain?
thanks!
If I understand the traditions correctly, in entering the Egyptian afterlife, Anubis weigh one's heart against the feather of Ma'at to determine worthiness for eternal life. If the heart was heavier the feather, it was eaten by another entity and the soul was destroyed. If the heart was lighter than the feather, the soul persisted.
If my memory serves me correctly, AP is referring to the Feather of Ma'at. The Ancient Egyptians believed everyone would stand trial before the gods and their heart weighed against the Feather of Ma'at. If the deceased person's heart was lighter than the feather, good news- a happy afterlife. If the heart was heavier, the person's soul would be devoured by a demon. I don't remember which one off the top of my head.
Anon 4:36 - we see improvement every day.
Laura and Pose - yeah, that.

You took the words right out of my, umm, fingers. AP, thank you so much for bringing this sweet doggie into your home. I'm forever in awe of animals' ability to bounce back from horrific abuse...and love again.
Hugs to you, the Angry Family & Predator, and sweet Anubis.
She looks so sweet! Where did you get her? I'd love to hear more about her...
OK, so "her feather is very, very heavy" means she has a very old, forgiving soul, right? She's a lovely dog!
How did I miss this back in Septembre? Perhaps by declaring RSS-bankruptcy at some point I suppose. What a great looking dog. Despite my otherwise freezing cold heart I'm always warmed by dog adoption.
