Something icky I have never seen before.

I just finished running a seminar. It was a good discussion of an exciting new paper.

One of the students chewed on his soul patch throughout the seminar.

Nasty!

Today on the way to work we were stopped in traffic when we saw an Escalade with environmental license plates. I thought this was ironic, so I pointed it out to the lovely Myfanwe, and just as I did the guy started (I kid you not) picking his nose and, well, um, eating "it". I almost hit the car in front of me.

People are nasty.

Was it a particularly long "soul patch" (I had to look that up, by the way) or was he gnawing on his whole lower lip in the process?

Yes, it was long, and attached only to the lower lip. Yichh.

Maybe there was still some breakfast or lunch left in there that hadn't been cleaned out by the mites.

OK, that may be the most repulsive thing I've ever typed.

I see girls chewing on their hair all the time. Not much difference, just a dude.
And there're plenty of times where my mustache ends up in my mouth due to my food catching it.
