She's gone.

She stopped eating even hotdogs on Sunday. When a dog won't eat a hotdog, there's nothing left. We saw nothing in her future but sickness and pain.

The house is cold and empty without her.

Thanks for all your good wishes.

As a friend of mine (a vet) once said to me: "It's harder for us then it is for them". You made the best possible choice, my condolences.

How sad. She was obviously well loved. You gave her a good life and a noble death. Be good to yourself during this hard, hard time.

I am so sorry. I truly am. I wish there was something I could say to make the hurt go away, but I can't. All I can say is that someone once said that grief is the price we pay for love. It doesn't make it hurt less, but it somehow makes it worthwhile. Fondly, Aidan.

My heart goes out to you. I know that emptiness too well. She was a lucky puppy to have such a loving family, strong enough to do right by her at the end. You done good, even though it feels so bad. *hugs*

I'm sorry for your loss. It's difficult making the choice you had to make. But, I'm sure it was the only humane choice you had.

I am very sorry for your loss. In a similar situation, we too lost our girl on Sunday. It was hard, but she could only stand leaning against things -- she had given up everything but water. We know it was best for her, but I will admit to being selfish and not wanting to do it.

So, I sympathize with you. I hope that time will lessen the pain but not the memories.

Sincerest condolences from the Great White North. I know that my little one will leave me all too soon, and my hearts breaks for the pain that you and the family are enduring. May your memories and knowledge of the care and love that your family gave her carry you all through these difficult times. "Those who we hold in our arms for a short time we hold in our hearts forever."

Condolences. Sounds like you did everything right and gave her a good home. I have a 17-year-old cat on my lap and I dread the day we have to make such decisions, so this touches/terrifies me.

I'm sorry to hear about the loss of Angry Dog; you did everything right by her.

My parents just lost their cat for a similar reason, and it's going to be a long time before they can go about their daily lives without expecting a golden Maine Coon cat to be following them everywhere.

Be good to yourselves...

I am so sorry Your pup was lucky to have you, as lucky as you were to have them if only for a little while. You did the right and humane thing. It was hard I know. Blessings.

You were so wise and strong to ease her out of her life before life became all suffering for her.

Tomorrow I get the results on my beloved border collie's kidney tests. It probably won't be good, and in that case I've agreed with the vet to put him down. It will be for my boy's ease, rather than my comfort.

You did the right thing. I want to be as strong as you. How I share your pain tonight.

I'm so sorry for your loss. We went through this about 20 months ago, and even though we now have another dog, there's still a dog-shaped hole in the house.

Big hugs to you.
