I think it's in her genes.

My young daughter, light of my life, when faced with a question to which she does not know the answer, responds, "Yes!" in a confident and cheerful way.

I just know she's going to be an academic.

Very cute. I hope one day she'll be able to say "I don't know" in an equally confident and cheerful way.

If I dont know the answer to something, I make it up. I blame a fear of getting slimed from too much 'you can't do that on television' when I was an impressionable young child...

ron - I hope as well that her "yes" evolves into an "I don't know." crawlspace, I think the fear of not knowing together with the inability to say "I don't know" is what pushes academics into higher administration.
