So sad, and utterly pointless.

Via my favorite website, The Millenium Project, I was watching this long-overdue exposé of the Canadian Cancer Research Group on CTV last night. Then, as I was driving in to school this morning, a news report mentioned that Coretta Scott King had expired at a Mexican clinic.

A Mexican clinic? I've been in a Mexican clinic. While there may be some good ones, I wouldn't go back to that one voluntarily. Was she on vacation, and her condition deteriorated unexpectedly? No. She was desperate, and being taken advantage of by the worst kind of quack. The best that can come of this is that, given her celebrity, the Mexican government can start cracking down harder on these charlatans, and people become a little more cautious of "alternative" cancer treatment centers operating without licensure. According to the story, this particular clinic was immediately shut down.

One down, countless more to go.
