Once in a lifetime.
My lecture today got a round of applause. This happened after I confessed that, while the 20 homeopathic sleeping tablets I ingested would not kill me, the lactose in the tablets would probably give me diarrhea.

I thought homeopathy was based on minimum effective dosage - ?
Good one! (In my untutored opinio, unless you're lactose intolerant, that amount shouldn't cause any trouble.) Happy April 1.
Rock and roll! I hope your students note your sacrifice on their instructor evaluations.
What a perfect way to keep your students listening carefully for any "additional output"! They may not have gotten the more juvenile entertainment they wanted, but they got a damn good lecture they were alert to catch. I don't dare try that with my students. You are a brave soul.
Dang, I need better props for my classes!
Actually, isn't the premise of homeopathy that the greater the dilution, the more effective it is?
In which case, if you only took 1/8 of a tablet, wouldn't that be.... more toxic...?
Was it an April Fools' joke? My classes have been known to play tricks on me.
And I, like Bardiac, need to get crackin' on better props for lectures. Thanks for raising the bar, AP.
Funny, just reading the page your link sent me to induced irritability and annoyance. Must be that reverse reverse psychology is what I need. ( Of Brady Bunch fame.)
